Infrastructure Week 2017 Webinar | "Design Considerations and Advantages of Flexible Buried Bridges" and "Introduction to Structural Design of Buried Steel Bridges (Non-Seismic)" | May 18, 2017

There's a new shape and technology for short span steel bridge design that utilizes Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) practices, is cost-effective, and simple to fabricate. Gregory Michaelson, Ph.D., a professor at Marshall University and a member of the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance's Bridge Technology Center, discussed modular press-brake-formed steel tub girders with engineers at IBC 2016. Infrastructure Week 2016 Webinar | "Historical Life Cycle Costs of Steel and Concrete Girder Bridges" | May 17, 2016

Michael Barker, Ph.D., P.E., a professor at the University of Wyoming and a member of the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance's Bridge Technology Center, presents his research on the initial costs, life cycle costs, and future costs of 1,186 typical steel and concrete state bridges in Pennsylvania built between 1960 and 2010. From the research, he developed a database to determine and compare the life cycle costs of steel and concrete girder bridges. His work demonstrates the potential benefits of life cycle cost analysis for bridge construction and management. To download the presentation, click here.
