Jon Coon of TransCon Supply Wins"Guess The Weight of the Steel Bridge" Contest at FHWA Highway for Life Conference

 

At the recent FHWA Highway for Life conference in Orlando, the SSSBA sponsored a contest, inviting attendees to use their best calculating skills to guess the pounds of steel in the short span bridge (pictured below) located in Hiouchi, California. The winning answer was submitted by Jon Coon, TransCon Supply with a guess of 56,500 lbs. The actual weight of the bridge is 68,000 lbs.

Modular steel beam bridge
The modular steel beam bridge was fabricated by Big R Bridge, and includes steel railings, steel decking and steel structural members.
