Coming in 2012: Short Span Steel Bridge Standard Designs & Details
The Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance is in the final stages of in the development of standard member designs for plate girder, rolled sections, corrugated structural plate, and corrugated pipe bridges – for span ranges between 20’ and 140’. Design details will also be included for the optimally selected sections for these structures. The standards will reduce the amount of time to design and construct a short span steel bridge - providing cost-effective steel solutions for crossings under 140 feet. This information will be integrated into a FREE web-based software system. Users will be able to provide specific information about their crossing (length, width, girder spacing, etc), and the web-based software will provide:
- Steel Beam Recommendations (rolled & plate for lightest weight and limited depth)
- Corrugated Structural Plate Recommendations
- Corrugated Steel Pipe Recommendations
- Structural Components/Designs Details
- List of Local Fabricators (who can quickly provide the design recommended by the software)
- Alternative Designs ( additional designs to consider from local fabricators)
To receive notification when the standards & design details are available, provide your contact information click here. Make sure to check the box marked “Sign Up For Standards & Design Details Information.
