Want to optimize your bridge beam designs? eBEAM140 is a free Excel-based tool for designing and refining simple span composite and noncomposite steel bridge beams.

The Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance announces the release of eBEAM140 v1.0, an Excel-based design tool built on the AASHTO 10th Edition specifications.

Key Features:

  • Versatile Bridge Design: Supports simple span composite and noncomposite beam bridges, accommodating any girder and diaphragm spacing – including skewed bridges.

  • Flexible Decking Options: Works with a wide range of common decking materials for two to four design lanes.

  • Customizable Loading: Apply standard loading options or define a custom truck with specific characteristics.

  • Comprehensive Checks: Evaluates Strength I/II, Service II, Construction, Fatigue, and Deflection Limit States, and designs shear studs for composite bridges.

  • Scenario Analysis: Explore “What-If” scenarios by adjusting unbraced lengths, section sizes, and bridge layouts.

  • Data Export: Exports all key design data for review and verification.

eBEAM140 is available as a complimentary resource from the SSSBA, providing engineers and owners with a practical tool for designing economical short span steel bridges.
