SSSBA Redesigns and Expands Website to Enhance User-Friendly Experience

Topics: News

The Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance (SSSBA) has redesigned its website to include enhanced features, easy-to-use navigation and improved accessibility on mobile devices.

The site implements a “card-style” interface to improve mobile responsiveness, organization and the ability to scan content.

There are several new features that have been added to the website:

  • The Project Assistance section provides expert guidance to questions on new and existing steel bridge projects. The user sends a short message about the assistance needed and receives an individualized reply from short span steel bridge experts.
  • The Find-a-Supplier section gives users access to a complete detailed online listing of the products/services offered by suppliers who specialize in short span steel bridge projects. This listing includes 64 different organizations and companies representing fabricators, steel producers, coaters, fasteners, bridge owners, deck and substructure companies, service centers, consultants, design firms and steel-related associations.
  • The Education section offers information on steel bridge basics, learning opportunities for students as well as available scholarships and internships, and educational events and resources for bridge professionals.

The website includes new resources such as the recently updated bridge design tool eSPAN140, research reports on innovative bridge technology, and an events calendar to stay informed about new educational opportunities.

“Short span bridges up to 140 feet make up the largest part of the U.S. bridge infrastructure, so they are in the greatest need of repair or replacement,” said Dan Snyder, director of the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance.

“Steel provides an excellent solution to meet the enormous bridge infrastructure challenges because it’s durable, provides speed of design and construction, requires minimal maintenance over the life span of the structure, and is cost-effective and sustainable. Our redesigned website makes it easier for bridge professionals and students to find the information and resources they need to meet this challenge with economical steel solutions.”
