AISI Corrosion Advisory Group to Meet October 27 in Ohio
September 17, 2026The American Iron and Steel Institute’s (AISI) Corrosion Advisory Group (CAG) will hold its next meeting on October 27, 2026, at the Sherwin-Williams Research & Development Center in Ohio. Both in-person and virtual participation opportunities will be available.
The meeting will bring together technical experts from the steel industry, coatings community, academia, government agencies and related organizations to discuss current issues and advancements related to corrosion protection and the long-term durability of structural steel.
A highlight of the meeting will be an opportunity for in-person attendees to tour Sherwin-Williams’ new 600,000-square-foot Research & Development Center, which supports research, product development, testing and other technical activities related to coatings and materials performance.
Meeting discussions are expected to address topics including:
- Current corrosion research and emerging technologies
- Coating systems and performance
- Design and detailing considerations
- Specification development and implementation
- Industry research needs and opportunities
About the AISI Corrosion Advisory Group
The AISI Corrosion Advisory Group brings together technical experts to advance the performance and durability of structural steel.
The group’s work focuses on several key objectives:
- Guidelines and specifications
- Research
- Knowledge transfer
- Industry collaboration
The CAG considers a broad range of corrosion-protection approaches, including weathering and corrosion-resistant steels, galvanizing, metalizing, paint and other coating systems, along with design and detailing practices that can improve the service life of steel structures.

Professionals: The SSSBA provides complimentary half-day or full-day workshops on short span steel bridge design to states, counties, and design firms. Topics covered include practical and cost-effective steel bridge design and fabrication with eSPAN140, press-brake-formed steel tub girders, steel buried bridge design, galvanized coating solutions, and economical design with case studies, and more. Students: The University of Wyoming and the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance created a free 6-part live-lecture educational series to cover the many aspects of designing, fabricating, and constructing steel bridges. All students who successfully complete the education series will receive a Certificate of Completion from the University of Wyoming. Learn more.

SSSBA to Present at 2026 CEAO Ohio Bridge Conference in Columbus, OH (Aug.11)
SSSBA will be featured at the 2026 County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO) Bridge Conference on August 11 in Columbus, Ohio. The session will introduce free design tools that help engineers develop efficient, economical short span steel bridge solutions.
