Video: SEANM Webinar – Steel Bridge Solutions

Topics: Accelerated, Video

The above video is a recording of the August 18, 2021 Structural Engineers Association of New Mexico webinar on short span steel bridge solutions.

Presenter: Dr. Michael Barker  – Director, SSSBA Bridge Education Center & Professor, Civil & Architectural Engineering, University of Wyoming

Abstract: Short span steel bridges meet owners’ and the public’s desire for economy, aesthetics, performance and accelerated construction. Steel bridges can be fabricated off-site in a controlled environment and ready to erect as soon as it reaches the bridge site. They are lighter weight, resulting in lighter equipment needs and fewer cranes, and they can be built with local work crews.

Prefabricated bridges accelerate construction and reduce on-site labor requirements, reduce traffic disruption, and lower overall project costs. Bridge manufacturers and fabricators have developed innovative, efficient and economical solutions to meet bridge project needs. Several bridge projects from manufacturers and pre-fabricated built bridges will be showcased to demonstrate their merits in bridge quality and accelerated construction.
